The Truth Behind GMO Labeling, Follow the Money

In the battle over labeling GMO food there will be facts along with much propaganda and deception thrown in to confuse voters this November. The savvy voter can follow the money to get to the truth of proposition 37.

To follow the money one can start with Maplight, a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization that reveals money’s influence on politics. Their analysis reveals the money being thrown at the proposed California legislation, Proposition 37.

Their analysis of funding received through Aug. 8 shows who has a high-stakes interest in the matter. As you might expect, organic and alternative health-oriented companies support labeling. Food and beverage, agricultural and chemical companies oppose it.

Maplight’s CA Prop. 37 – GMO Labeling: Funding Update can be viewed here.

A spreadsheet of all contributions for Prop. 37 can be found here.

Contributions received can also be viewed from the California Secretary of State No on 37 here and Yes on 37 here.

Of the twenty largest contributors to the No on 37 campaign, only one (Nestle USA) is from a company based in California. And even Nestle USA is a subsidiary of the giant Swiss food conglomerate Nestlé S.A.

Thus far, the “Big 6″ pesticide companies (Monsanto, Dow, BASF, Bayer, Syngenta and DuPont) have contributed $13.5 million to defeat Proposition 37.

“The giant pesticide and food companies are afraid of the mothers and grandmothers who want the right to know what’s in our food,” said Stacy Malkan, media director of California Right to Know. “These companies will try to buy the election, but it won’t work. California moms and dads will prevail over Monsanto and Dupont.”

So does this battle come down to might over right? Will the “Big 6″ pesticide companies win over voter’s trust with deception and propaganda or will the voters look deeper into the issue of GMO labeling and follow the many that already endorse Prop 37?

If you look at the Americans today, they are so genetically modified, a 20 year of male or female usually looks more like a giant cancer-sore on a prehistoric dinosaur. They are beastly deformed, since all they get to eat is cheap, genetic garbage.Watch the 1973 movie with Chuck Heston, Soylent Green, and you realize what the Americans and others in Europe are doing to Mankind and the Planet. That is our food now, and the movie is set to take place in the year 2023, which is only 14 years from right now. We are a little early, I guess. Beware, you have been warned.
